Our faculty actively participated in the MediFutura 2025, which became the largest gathering of its kind for medical students in Slovakia, held in Bratislava. More than 2,700 students of medicine attended the event, finding not only professional inspiration but also a platform for discussion about the future of healthcare. The nationwide forum was organized by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic with the aim of presenting opportunities for professional development and career growth within the Slovak healthcare system.
The Faculty of Medicine at UPJŠ in Košice was represented by a delegation of faculty leadership led by the Dean, joined by active students from the Association of Medical Students of Košice (SMMK), the Slovak Association of Dental Medicine Students (SSŠZL), and other students. Their strong attendance confirmed that the future of medicine and healthcare in Slovakia is a matter of genuine interest to the younger generation.
The highlight of MediFutura was a ceremonial gala evening under the motto “Joining Forces for Better Healthcare in Slovakia”, during which Minister of Health Kamil Šaško honored 15 outstanding individuals – medical students, young doctors, and researchers whose dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm contribute to positive changes in healthcare.
We were proud to see among the awardees also students of the UPJŠ Faculty of Medicine in Košice – Ľubomíra Marczellová (4th year) and Patrik Buček (5th year). Their achievement is not only a personal recognition but also a testament to the quality of education at our faculty and an inspiration for their peers.
MediFutura offered a rich professional program including lectures, discussions, and networking opportunities, demonstrating that Slovak medical students form a strong and motivated community ready to improve healthcare for the better.
The participation of our faculty in this prestigious event confirms that it belongs among the active and respected partners in shaping the future of medicine in Slovakia.
