Doctor Honoris Causa at UPJŠ

Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice awards the honorary title of doctor honoris causa to personalities who, through their lifelong work, have made a significant contribution to the dissemination of the ideas of humanism, democracy and understanding between nations, in the field of education, science, art or politics, and whose significance has transcended the borders of the country in which they are active, and who have also contributed to the development of science and education.

Professor Emeritus and Visiting Professor at UPJŠ in Košice

Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice also awards the honorary academic title of Emeritus Professor to professors over 70 years of age for their significant contribution in the field of science and education, and Visiting Professor to prominent and renowned domestic or foreign personalities and experts during their tenure at UPJŠ.

The title of “Emeritus Professor (Professor Emeritus) of the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice” may be awarded by the Rector, on the proposal of the University’s Scientific Council, in accordance with the Higher Education Act, for significant contributions in the field of science or art and education to a professor over 70 years of age who has terminated his/her employment with the University or one of its faculties as a full professor and continues to be active scientifically and pedagogically at the University or one of its faculties. Active scientific work means, in particular, participation in a scientific project, publication of research outputs, etc. Active pedagogical work means in particular giving lectures, supervising theses, etc.
