At the Department of Radiology of AGEL University Hospital Košice–Šaca, specialized CT examinations have been implemented into clinical practice, particularly CT virtual colonoscopy, which is used to detect lesions of the large intestine in patients who are unwilling or unable to undergo conventional colonoscopy.
The mammography unit has the status of a screening center. The certificate was obtained after meeting the required criteria, undergoing repeated professional audits, and completing specialized certification training of the staff.
In 2026, a 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system will be commissioned, which will allow us to expand the range of diagnostic examinations.
The department is actively involved in the education of students from Pavol Jozef Šafárik University, Faculty of Medicine (UPJŠ LF) and collaborates with the Technical University of Košice, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, providing teaching for students in the Biomedical Engineering program.
