The students of the FM UPJŠ are ready to help with mass testing of Slovaks for COVID-19 on October 31, 2020, and November 01, 2020, and November 7-8, 2020. About a hundred of them have already passed the general exam thanks to pilot testing in the Bardejov district. The members of the student part of the Academic Senate of the FM UPJŠ helped with the recruitment of candidates to the sampling teams and several of them also tried testing…
The Rector of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc., and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ prof. Daniel Pella, M.D., Ph.D. highly appreciate the responsible civic attitude of students in connection with the testing last weekend in Bardejov and the upcoming nationwide testing of Slovak citizens. “We are also proud of your belief in your knowledge you have gained so far, which you can apply in a really critical situation,” they refer together to the students.
Due to the deteriorated epidemiological situation, medical students are currently helping at the L. Pasteur University Hospital in Košice, and other hospitals are increasing their demands for the help of medical students. The medical students have also repeatedly carried out the testing with antigen rapid tests at the Košice’s Municipal Authority and they also help to test their colleagues, as the FM UPJŠ has been testing all students of the 6th year of study who enter medical facilities on a two-week basis since October 12, 2020.
