Opportunity for practical teaching for Israeli students in their home country opens up

    The Director of the Department of Neurology at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center Ichilov, professor Dr. Nir Giladi, and Oz Fürth, D.V.M., co-partner of IMS- our partner in recruiting students in Israel, visited the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ to open the possibility of cooperation in the field of practical teaching of Israeli medical student in the higher years of study at the Ichilov Medical Center – on Monday, October 17, 2022.

    The Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ was represented at the meeting by the Vice-Dean for Scientific and Research Activities and authorized to represent the Dean – prof. Peter Jarčuška, M.D., PhD., the Vice-Dean for Educational Activities – prof. Želmíra Macejová, M.D., PhD., MPH, the Vice-Dean for Study Programme General Medicine in English Language – assoc. prof. Pavol Kristian, M.D., PhD. and the Head of the Academic Senate and the Head of the Department of Medical Informatics and Simulator Medicine – assoc. prof. Ing. Jaroslav Majerník, PhD.
    The representatives of UPJŠ FM introduced the teaching at our Faculty to the Israeli guests, listened to their vision of cooperation regarding teaching clinical subjects, and discussed its various aspects at the beginning of the meeting. Such cooperation would be beneficial not only for our Faculty and the Ichilov hospital but above all it would be a great benefit to the students who could attend practical teaching in their home country (especially in the sixth year of their studies).
    The participants of the meeting moved together to the Center of Simulator and Virtual Medicine of the UPJŠ FM, where the representatives from Israel were interested to learn about the modern equipment of this workplace, which carries out theoretical and practical teaching of our students from different years of study and study programmes, including General Medicine and Dental Medicine. The state-of-the-art instrumentation of the Center was demonstrated by the Head of the Department of Medical Informatics and Simulator Medicine assoc. prof. Ing. Jaroslav Majerník, PhD. and the Head of the Centre of Simulator and Virtual Medicine Jakub Jánošík, MDDr. 
    The conclusion of the official working program took place at the East Slovak Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, a.s., which is one of the teaching bases of the UPJŠ FM.
    Prof. Giladi also met with Israeli students, with whom they had a lively discussion about studying at our Faculty and about the possibility of practical teaching in a hospital in Israel.
