The 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ was celebrated on Wednesday, 11 October, 2023. The celebration included a solemn meeting of the Scientific Board of the FM UPJŠ in the historical auditorium on Dr. Kostlivý Street in the morning and a festive programme , which was connected with the award ceremony for the jubilant staff of the FM UPJŠ in the Assembly Hall of the FM UPJŠ in the afternoon.
The solemn meeting of the Scientific Board of the FM UPJŠ in the historical auditorium on Dr. Kostlivý Street was held in the presence of honored invited guests, among whom were Vice-Rectors of UPJŠ, Vice-Deans of the Faculty of Medicine, Deans and Vice-Deans of other faculties of UPJŠ, members of Academic Senates, academic officials of UPJŠ, representatives of university departments, guests from other universities and faculties, emeritus professors, representatives of the state administration and local government, directors and deputy directors of teaching bases of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ, representatives of institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and other distinguished guests.
The Dean prof. MUDr. Peter Jarčuška, PhD hosted the celebration and the promoter of the solemn meeting of the Scientific Board was the Vice-Dean for Scientific and Research Activities, prof. MUDr. Pavol Kristian, PhD. The Rector of UPJŠ prof. MUDr. Daniel Pella, PhD., who could not personally attend the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the FM UPJŠ, highlighted the importance of the jubilating Faculty of Medicine and wished it to continue to progress and that it would always be a great joy and honor to be its employee and student.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine prof. MUDr. Peter Jarčuška, PhD. highlighted the personality and contribution of Professor Ján Kňazovický for the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ and mentioned important milestones in its history in his ceremonial speech. Then the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine read a letter of greetings from the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová, who congratulated the Faculty Board, employees, and students on the occasion of the significant jubilee.
The programme continued with speeches of the representatives of the Faculty of Medicine, after which the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ prof. MUDr. Peter Jarčuška, PhD. and the Chair of the Academic Senate of UPJŠ FM assoc. prof. Ing. Jaroslav Majerník, PhD. handed over the Memorial Plaques and Memorial Letters to the representatives of 27 academic departments and partner institutions on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ.
After the official part of the meeting of the Scientific Board, a short cultural programme was held where Fusion Bows Quartet played three impressive compositions. This was followed by a professional program consisting of four professional lectures.
The festive programme and award ceremony for the jubilating employees of the UPJŠ FM was held in the Assembly Hall at the FM UPJŠ in the afternoon. The programme included a solemn speech of the Dean of the UPJŠ FM prof. MUDr Peter Jarčuška, PhD., the award ceremony for the jubilating employees, a cultural programme performed by the Fusion Bows Quartet and soloist Beáta Bakalárová and ceremonial lectures divided into two blocks.
The ceremonial program ended with a speech by the Chair of the Academic Senate of the UPJŠ FM, assoc. prof. Ing. Jaroslav Majerník, PhD. and then a reception was held for all participating guests in the vestibule.
