Official Statement of the Faculty of Medicine, Pavol Jozef Šafarik University in Košice on the Admission Procedure for Study Programmes Taught in English
The Faculty of Medicine, Pavol Jozef Šafarik University in Košice (hereinafter referred to as “UPJŠ FM”) hereby states that admission to the study programmes General Medicine and Dental Medicine taught in the English language for the academic year 2026/2027 is governed exclusively by the applicable internal regulations and official admission conditions of UPJŠ FM, in particular by the Rector’s Decision determining the Principles of the Admission Procedure for studies at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, the Study Rules and Regulations of UPJŠ FM, and the Conditions for Admission to Study Programmes of the combined 1st and 2nd degree of study at UPJŠ FM for the academic year 2026/2027 – language of instruction: English.
Admission to the study programmes General Medicine and Dental Medicine at UPJŠ FM is based exclusively on the successful completion of the entrance examination- achievement of the required number of points and fulfilment of all other admission procedure requirements in accordance with the official admission conditions of UPJŠ FM.
UPJŠ FM further emphasizes that the only form of “guaranteed admission” is the possibility of exemption from the entrance examination, which may be granted only under the conditions expressly set out in the Conditions for Admission to Study Programmes of the combined 1st and 2nd degree of study at UPJŠ FM for the academic year 2026/2027 – language of instruction: English and fulfilment of all other admission procedure requirements.
In accordance with these conditions, applicants for the study programmes General Medicine (GM) and Dental Medicine (DM) at UPJŠ FM for the academic year 2026/2027 may be exempted from the entrance examination only if all of the following conditions are met:
1. Successful completion of the following courses during previous studies at the Faculty of Medicine of UPJŠ in Košice within the last ten years:
• Biology 1 (GM) / Medical and Human Biology 1 (DM)
• Biology 2 (GM) / Medical and Human Biology (DM)
• Medical Biochemistry 1 (GM, DM)
• Medical Biochemistry 2 (GM, DM)
2. Submission of a written request for exemption from the entrance examination by the applicant.
3. Proper submission of the application form and fulfilment of all other conditions of the admission procedure.
4. Approval of the request for exemption from entrance examination by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of UPJŠ in Košice.
