We organized the International Clinical Trials Day

The national hub for academic clinical trials in Slovakia SLOVACRIN, under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ together with the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, the State Institute for Drug Control, and the Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Industry organized a two-day meeting in Bratislava on 15-16 May 2023, which included a certified “Good Clinical Practice Course for Investigators and Coordinators” held on Monday and the “International Clinical Trials Day” on Tuesday.

The professional event with a high participation of participants from healthcare institutions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, private hospitals, outpatient healthcare providers, representatives of scientific research institutions, universities, and the commercial sphere took place at the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic on the occasion of the International Day of Clinical Trials.

One of the objectives of the SLOVACRIN infrastructure coordinated by the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ is to support the professional training of staff at the clinical trials departments and study teams to ensure the conduct of clinical trials in accordance with good clinical practice in the framework of events such as the Good Clinical Practice Course for investigators and coordinators held at the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic. A total of 80 participants took part in the course on Monday, May 15, 2023, and over a hundred participants from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Ukraine accepted the invitation to the International Clinical Trials Day on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

“The conference featured several interesting contributions from both academic and commercial research. An essential resonating theme is the interest in bringing new, beneficial, and safe procedures, drugs and materials for therapeutic practice and a proactive effort to find effective solutions,” stated the medical director of the infrastructure SLOVACRIN Beáta Čečetková, M.D., PhD., according to her opinion the lectures and discussions provided different perspectives on the conduct of clinical trials and thanks to them the participants obtained a comprehensive description of the current issue.
