Infrastructure of the Institute of Experimental Medicine has been completely innovated in 2013. The workplace is equipped with state-of-the-art devices that have been purchased from EU Structural Funds projects: CEMIO (ITMS 26220120058), PROBIO (ITMS 26220220104) and PROBIOTECH (ITMS 26220220152).

Simulator of the human intestinal microbial ecosystem – TWINSHIME

A unique, scientifically validated dynamic model of the complete gastrointestinal tract to study physicochemical, enzymatic and microbial parameters in the gastrointestinal tract in a controlled in vitro setting. TWINSHIME® combines two identical SHIME® systems. This setup allows performing either placebo-controlled in vitro studies of probiotic microorganisms and natural compounds, or comparative study of two different products.

State-of-the-art device, which enables effective separation of the examined compounds, identification of organic molecules with the mass spectrometer and their quantification with the flame ionization detector.

Light Cycler® 480 Instrument II

The LightCycler® 480 System is a high-performance, medium-throughput PCR platform (96- well plates) that provides various methods for gene detection, gene expression analysis, genetic variation analysis, and array data validation. The system features the LightCycler® 480 Instrument, a versatile, plate-based real-time PCR device that supports mono- or multicolor applications, as well as multiplex protocols.

Flow cytometer BD FACSVerse

The BD FACSVerse cytometer is a compact research flow cytometer with three lasers that provide the ability to analyze up to 10 parameters (FSC, SSC and 8 colors (4 blue, 2 red, and 2 violet). Emission filters are interchangeable and filters are automatic detected. In addition, pulse processing (height, width and area) can be measured on all the parameters. The vacuum driven fluidics can measure at high (120 µl/min), medium (60 µl/min), and low (12 µl/min) flow rates. The FACSVerse also has the ability to measure in a high sensitivity fluidics mode, that it makes easier to detect dimly stained particles.

The Randox RX Daytona platform is a fully automated, random access clinical chemistry analyzer used to perform both routine and specialized testing, as well as emergency STAT sampling.

Advanced microplate analyzer xCELLigence RTCA SP

The xCELLigence® RTCA SP instrument uses noninvasive electrical impedance monitoring to quantify cell proliferation, morphology change, and attachment quality in a label-free, real-time manner. The instrument is placed in a standard CO2 cell culture incubator and interfaces via a cable with analysis and control units that are housed outside the incubator. User-friendly software allows for real-time control and monitoring of the instrument, and includes real-time data display and analysis functions.
