If you are directly affected in your rights established under the Act on Personal Data Protection, you have the right, pursuant to Section 100 of this Act, to lodge a complaint with the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic requesting the initiation of proceedings on the protection of personal data. The purpose of such proceedings is to determine whether a violation of the rights of natural persons has occurred in the processing of their personal data or whether the law has been breached and, if deficiencies are identified, to impose, where justified and appropriate, remedial measures or, where applicable, a fine for the violation of the law.
A template for submitting a complaint is published by the Office on its website. The complaint aimed at the initiation of proceedings must contain evidence supporting the claims made in the complaint and a copy of a document or other evidence demonstrating that the right has been exercised with the controller (the right of access to personal data, the right to request rectification of personal data, the right to erasure or restriction of processing of personal data, the right to object to the processing of personal data, or the right to data portability), if the data subject has exercised such a right, or a statement of reasons of particular consideration for not exercising the respective right.
