The ministerial delegation was first received by the management of the University and the Faculty of Medicine during an official reception that opened the visit’s program. It included a discussion with students on the future of healthcare system in Slovakia. The discussion brought up a number of open questions and constructive suggestions. The students actively participated in the debate and pointed out several practical aspects that they perceived as important for their future in the healthcare sector. For example, the availability and quality of student accommodation, the technical and staffing conditions of hospital facilities, and the employment opportunities for young doctors after graduation.
The meeting confirmed the importance of a direct dialogue between medical students and representatives of the Ministry of Health. At the same time, it created space for mutual understanding and search for common solutions for a better future of the healthcare system in Slovakia. We are thankful to the Minister and the delegation for their interest in education and in the perspectives of young people on the Slovak healthcare system. We believe that such meetings can contribute to better understanding and positive changes within the system.
