Workshop on AI brought together academic and administrative staff

The International Relations and Internationalization Office, in cooperation with the Institute of Computer Science of the Faculty of Science at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice (UPJŠ), organized an event focused on the possibilities of using AI in academic and administrative settings. The event took place on 12 September 2025 in the newly renovated premises of the Faculty of Law at Kováčska 30 in Košice. More than 50 academic and administrative staff members took part in the event.

Following an opening lecture by two foreign experts Dr. Paulina Trybek and Dr. Bartosz Dziewit from the University of Silesia in Katowice, doc. RNDr. Ľubomír Antoni, PhD., presented the basic types of AI tasks and tools as well as the ethical aspects and limitations of AI use. After the joint morning session, the programme continued with two parallel blocks.

Block I for academic staff focused on modern teaching and research approaches using AI and covered topics such as the personalization of teaching, the use of AI tools to support teaching and assessment, the AI-assisted creation of teaching materials, and the application of AI in research and publishing.

Within Block II for administrative staff, the PhD students Mgr. Barbora Ľapinová and Mgr. Martina Kuchtová presented practical demonstrations of routine task automation, digital assistance tools, and ways in which AI can streamline communication and the organization of events.

The event provided participants not only with a theoretical framework but also with many practical guidelines and inspirations on how to use AI in teaching, research, and administrative processes.

AI in Practice workshop was organized within the project Audit of the level of internationalisation and implementation of internationalisation projects of higher education institutions and research institutions, Activity 10.2 – Organising workshops concentrating on the career development of academic and administrative staff.
