On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 2 p.m., the International Board of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice held a meeting. The meeting was attended by its members: Prof. MUDr. Daniel Pella, PhD., rector of UPJŠ and chairman of the Board; Doc. Ing. Silvia Ručinská, PhD, University Professor, Vice-Rector for Internationalization; Prof. PhDr. Ján Čermák, CSc. from Charles University in Prague; Prof. Dr. Maria Jose Coperias Aguilar from the University of Valencia; Prof. Mark Wiliam Meisel, PhD. from the University of Florida, and Prof. JUDr. Ing. Michal Radvan, Ph.D. from Masaryk University in Brno. Other members of UPJŠ management were invited to the meeting, including Prof. MVDr. Monika Hálanová, PhD., Vice-Rector for Academic Qualifications and Doctoral Studies; Prof. RNDr. Renáta Oriňaková, DrSc., Vice-Rector for Science, Research and Projects; JUDr. Ľudmila Elbert, PhD., university associate professor, Vice-Rector for Undergraduate and Lifelong Learning; Dr. h. c. Prof. Mgr. Slávka Tomaščíková Vice-Rector for International Relations, PhD.; Prof. Mgr. Jaroslav Hofierka, PhD., Vice-Rector for Quality of Education, and Prof. MUDr. Jana Kaťuchová, PhD., MBA, Chair of the Academic Senate of UPJŠ in Košice.
The Vice-Rectors presented the achievements, ongoing and planned activities of the university, as well as the current challenges and opportunities for its development. Subsequently, the members of the International Board discussed specific quality indicators and the university’s performance with the UPJŠ management. At the end of the meeting, the Board’s operating procedures and other tasks were established.
The UPJŠ International Board is a permanent advisory body to the Rector, which primarily formulates opinions and recommendations on the framework, content, and form of evaluation of educational and creative activities in an international context. It also submits recommendations to the Rector of UPJŠ in Košice for the creation of new study programs, the development of research, and the better establishment of UPJŠ in international education and research. The Board is composed of the Rector, the Vice-Rector in charge, and internationally recognized experts from abroad with experience in managing universities or research institutions with significant achievements in education and science, as well as in the transfer of science into practice.
