Dr. h. c. prof. Mgr. Slávka Tomaščíková, PhD., Vice-Rector for International Relations, and Mgr. Július Rozenfeld, PhD., assistant professor from the Department of English and American Studies at the Faculty of Arts of UPJŠ, represented Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice at the prestigious international EAIE Conference and Exhibition 2025, which took place in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The EAIE Gothenburg 2025 conference was held on September 9-12, 2025, at the modern Svenska Mässan congress center. During the event, UPJŠ representatives held more than 40 bilateral meetings with representatives of partner universities from Colombia, Japan, France, Palestine, the USA, Georgia, Sweden, Mexico, China, Brazil, India, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, and Argentina.
“We managed to make progress in specifying forms of cooperation and activities with new partners from previous fairs, and we responded to the great interest of universities in cooperation in the field of education and scientific research, especially from Latin America and Asia,” said Vice-Rector Prof. Tomaščíková. The main theme of the conference was the motto “GO-Create,” which encouraged participants to seek new forms of cooperation and joint creation.

More than 7,000 experts from 100 countries around the world participated in the event. The conference thus provided a unique platform for establishing new international partnerships, exchanging experiences, and gaining knowledge about the latest trends and innovations in the international academic environment.
Pavol Jozef Šafárik University was a part of a delegation of 16 Slovak universities. The Slovak national stand “Study in Slovakia – Good Idea” was officially opened on September 10, 2025, by Róbert Zsembera, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, together with Michal Tonhauser, representative of the Slovak Embassy in Stockholm.
The participation of Slovak universities in the EAIE Conference and Exhibition 2025 was coordinated by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic and supported by the Slovak Republic’s Recovery and Resilience Plan, specifically through the call for proposals “Support for projects promoting universities abroad.”
The aim of the conference was to:
➔ strengthen international ties and academic cooperation
➔ involve Slovak universities in global academic events, increase their internationalization and competitiveness
➔ contribute to attracting and retaining talented students in the Slovak Republic
