Dear employees and students,
Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice is participating in the 8th annual nationwide collection for seniors: How much love can fit into a shoebox, organized by Koľko Lásky, o. z. All collected boxes and their content will be donated as Christmas gift to seniors, primarily in senior care facilities or to seniors in social services facilities, then in hospitals in geriatric or long-term care wards, hospices, and after covering all facilities across Slovakia, the remaining boxes will be distributed to local governments where seniors living alone are registered.
You can drop off the boxes individually at collection points set up by the collection organizers.

If you plan to drop off your box on your way to work or school, we have set up a collection point at the Rectorate of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice at Šrobárova 2, where you can drop off your donations from November 26 to December 4, 2025, on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. After the collection at UPJŠ ends, we will arrange for the boxes to be transported by the collection coordinator.
Fill a shoebox with little something from each of the following categories:
Something sweet (biscuits, chocolate, gingerbread),
Something salty (pretzels, crackers),
Something to keep warm (tea, coffee, hot chocolate),
Something cozy (gloves, knitted socks),
Something scented (shower gel, hand cream, perfume),
Something to enjoy (book, crossword puzzles, magazine),
Something to remember (angel figurine, postcard, picture).
Wrap the shoebox with the lid and bottom separately, so that the box can be opened without damage to check its contents.
