About the event

On October 26 and 27, UPJŠ held Aurora CDS Training Event as a part of a series of six awareness-raising sessions. During the event, the attendees gained deeper insights into the implementation of mentorship programmes of early stage researchers and PhD students. The event was opened with a welcome speech by the Rector of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc. Subsequently, Sabine Allain-Saint-Rose, the Director of the Aurora Programme, delivered opening remarks on the Alliance, Sabina Di Prima of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Tereza Kalousková of Palacký University Olomouc introduced the topic of the training event, and doc. Ing. Silvia Ručinská, PhD. introduced the intersections of HRS4R, GAP Analysis and the issue of mentorship at UPJŠ.

During the programme, the attendees participated in a workshop consisting of three parts. Under the guidance of Dr. Denyse Snelder and Sabina Di Prima, the attendees started by sharing their experiences with mentorship, proceeded through stakeholder mapping, discussed selection criteria for mentors, and identified safe and comfortable mentorship environment. To conclude the first day of the training event, the attendees joined in a guided tour of Košice.

The success of the event is further testified by the considerable amount of attendees and their active participation in the workshops.  We would like to express our gratitude to our partners at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Palacký University Olomouc, as well as to all the attendees, and speakers
