Within the framework of the Academic Board’s ceremonial session on Friday on January 18, 2019 at 11:00 the honorary title doctor honoris causa was awarded to the former president of the SR Dr.h.c. Ing. Rudolf Schuster, PhD. – a successful and internationally recognized politician and a versatile cultural personality. The Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice awarded him the honorary title Dr.h.c. on the occasion of his important life jubilee in the field of political science for profiling the modern form of the Office of the President of the Slovak Republic, for the development of democracy and politics as service to citizens, for the significant contribution of his own cultural and artistic projects to the Slovak culture and literature, and for his support to Slovak science and Slovak higher education, as well as the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice in establishing itself in the European Research Area (ERA) and the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
“Rudolf Schuster has always shown respect towards the universities of Košice and towards the SAS institutes, he supported them and was proud of their successes. He promoted the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and its results on many work related and social events in Slovakia and abroad. As a result the university has been visited by many important personalities from the diplomatic and academic fields,” said the Rector the university prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc.
Dr.h.c. Ing. Rudolf Schuster, PhD. became the 41st holder of the title Dr.h.c. of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. The award of the honorary scientific title was held in the Historical Auditorium of the university in the presence of many important personalities.
“I most sincerely thank the Academic Board of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and personally you, your Magnificence, the Rector of this renowned university, Prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc. for the respect and recognition manifested by awarding me the Honorary Doctorate. I would like to promise you on this occasion that in my life to come I will try to duly represent your University, which has become and will remain my Alma Mater, and that I will help it wherever I can and where my stamina will suffice to do so” said Dr.h.c. Ing. Rudolf Schuster, PhD.
