The Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, has held discussions aimed at improving the conditions for international students studying in Slovakia. As a result, an affordable and financially advantageous health insurance product has been introduced, especially for students coming from third countries.

Basic Information
Within the territory of Slovakia: covers comprehensive healthcare, including acute and emergency medical care.
Within the Schengen Area: covers acute and emergency medical care only.
Students can choose a general practitioner or specialist from a list of contracted healthcare providers available on the insurance company’s website.
When visiting a contracted doctor, students do not pay for the treatment.
If a non-contracted doctor is visited, students must pay the costs directly, which will then be reimbursed by the insurance company upon submission of the necessary documentation.
How to Obtain the Insurance
- The insurance can be arranged in person at any Union Insurance branch.
- Required documents:
- ISIC card / student index / confirmation of study,
- Identification document (e.g., passport).
- The insurance package includes a confirmation for the Slovak Foreign Police, which students can use when applying for a residence permit in Slovakia.
