The SAFTRA Photonics, s.r.o. has succeeded in the 9th EU H2020 call for project proposals for the introduction of new high-tech products on the international market within the SME Instrument, small and medium-sized enterprises scheme.

It achieved a unique success in a large competition of innovative companies from all over Europe, thus becoming the first Slovak company, which introduced a breakthrough product and an interesting business plan in this category of H2020 calls.

SAFTRA Photonics succeeded with the project for portable devices with nanosensors to identify the organic contamination of water and food. This technology is based on a nano-optical chip operating within a portable device that allows rapid and accurate analysis of the presence of organic contaminants in food and water.

SAFTRA Photonics was established in 2014 by prof. Pavol Miškovský as a start-up company of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice – a subsidiary of the SAFTRA, s.r.o. company, which is fully owned by the university.
