The Center for World University Rankings does not rely on surveys or data provided by the institutions themselves. The ranking is based on seven criteria grouped into four areas:

Ranking of UPJŠ

In 2023, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, with a score of 68.2, was ranked 1435th in the CWUR World University Rankings. Among Slovak universities, UPJŠ ranked 2nd out of 4 evaluated universities, which include Comenius University in Bratislava, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, and Technical University of Košice. In terms of both the Czech Republic and Slovakia, UPJŠ ranked 10th out of 15 evaluated universities. Within the Visegrad Group (V4), UPJŠ was ranked 40th out of 62 universities. While the ranking evaluates four categories of criteria, UPJŠ was specifically assessed for research quality and ranked 1374th worldwide. This year, a total of 20,531 higher education institutions from around the world were evaluated, with only the top 2000 institutions included in the final ranking. Therefore, UPJŠ belongs to the top 7% of universities worldwide.
