Transcriptome and metabolome of bioactive compounds with anticancer activity in the genus Hypericum (guarantee prof. Čellárová)

Research within this topic is concentrated at identification and validation of candidate genes of biosynthesis of bioactive compounds in the genus Hypericum, temporal-spatial regulation of their biosynthesis, identification of endophytic microorganisms from the representatives of the genus Hypericum and characterisation of their biosynthetic potential and at feasibility of targeted enhancement of production of bioactive compounds by biotechnological alternative.

This part of research is focused at elucidation of intra- and extracellular signalization during photodynamic cancer therapy because understanding of the processes associated with the cell death, angiogenesis, role of intercellular interactions and the effect of microenvironment,  autorenewal and differentiation of cancer stem cells, as well as mechanisms of multiple drug resistance may provide, by the knowledge on regulation of the cell signalling pathways, new possibilities for rational therapy and new drugs design.
