In October 2025, doc. ThDr. Peter Borza, PhD. and doc. Ing. Mgr. Jozef Bavoľár, PhD. conducted the visits to universities abroad to develop cooperation in research under Activity 22.2 of the project Audit of the level of internationalisation and implementation of internationalisation projects of higher education institutions and research institutions.
The primary goal of the visit by doc. Peter Borza from the Department of History, Faculty of Arts of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, was to deepen cooperation with prof. Ján Mikrút, full professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University (Pontificia Università Gregoriana) in Rome. The meetings focused on establishing partnership cooperation and exchanging experiences from the academic and research environments. The result of the negotiations is a mutual assurance of support for the publication of research works and the prospect of cooperation in organizing events dedicated to the presentation of church history. The program also included a visit to the Dicastery for the Oriental Churches and its archives with the aim of preparing archival research in the Vatican collections, and a visit to the Slovak Historical Institute in Rome.
Doc. Jozef Bavoľár from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, held a series of meetings in the Finnish capital Helsinki with Dr. Veli-Matti Karhulahti, who is currently leading a project under the ERC (European Research Council) Starting Grant scheme at the University of Jyväskylä. The discussions focused mainly on experiences with applying for and managing the most prestigious European projects. Dr. Karhulahti presented the specifics of several aspects of evaluating international applications, as well as managing an international team with representatives from both European and Asian countries. Given Dr. Karhulahti’s very good experience with Slovak scientists and institutions to date, the possibilities of cooperation with Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice were also discussed, particularly in the form of lecture stays.
