UPJŠ is one of the key partners in the EURIDICE consortium, which focuses on interdisciplinary education in digital skills for social innovation. As a research and educational institution, UPJŠ contributes to the development and implementation of the new joint European Master’s programme, Digital Society, Social Innovation, and Global Citizenship, as well as to all other key objectives of the project.
Specific Roles of UPJŠ
Academic participation and content development
UPJŠ contributes to the design of the Master’s curriculum and participates in its accreditation and implementation.
It contributes to the development and implementation of teaching modules, particularly in the areas of public policy, management, regional development, and culture.
It participates in research activities at the European level.
Quality of education and evaluation
UPJŠ is a member of the Microcredential Evaluation Committee, which helps ensure the high quality of the educational programmes.
It contributes to the evaluation and quality monitoring of the educational modules.
Professional development and training
The University participates in the development of lifelong learning modules, including training for teachers and professionals.
It also coordinates partner institutions in the areas of training and professional development.
Translation and localisation of educational materials
EURIDICE aims to make education widely accessible, and UPJŠ contributes to the translation and regional implementation of modules in Slovak.
Cooperation and dissemination of results
UPJŠ coordinates cooperation with other academic and professional partners in Central and Eastern Europe.
The University contributes to the dissemination of project results through professional events, seminars, and other activities.
Prof. Martin Pekár
Professor at the Department of History, Faculty of Arts, UPJŠ
His main research interests include the political and social history of the 20th century, the history of the Holocaust in Slovakia, and the quality of history education.
He is responsible for the quality of several study programmes at the Department, particularly with regard to their compliance with the ESG and their integration of modern didactic approaches and digital tools.
He has led several research projects, the most significant of which was the H2020-MSCA-ITN project History of European Urbanism in the 20th Century (2016–2021).
He serves as a member of ERC evaluation panels, contributing to the advancement of frontier research at the European level.
Within the EURIDICE project, he is responsible for activities related to the development, accreditation, and implementation of the EJM and is developing courses in Digital Public History.
Head of the Department of Public Policy and Theory of Public Administration, Faculty of Public Administration
Her research focuses on openness, transparency, and the modernisation of public administration, digital and green solutions in public administration, eGovernment, and smart cities.
She has completed several research and professional stays abroad.
She worked as an Associate Professor at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and Finance Ludwigsburg in Germany and at the Faculty of Public Policies of the Silesian University in Opava, Czech Republic.
She participated in the international DiGreen project focusing on green and digital cities.
She is a member of the international Counterfake team, which focuses on the analysis of disinformation in public policy.
From 2022 to 2023, she and her team worked for the OECD on research and a study examining the implementation of the CAF methodology in public administration institutions.
At UPJŠ, she currently manages the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R).
Within the EURIDICE project, she is a member of the working group developing courses for teachers and the general public in the field of Digital Humanism. She is developing the course Digital Government.

Assoc. Prof. Peter Borza
Deputy Head of the Department of History, Faculty of Arts, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice
His research focuses on 20th-century history in Central Europe, church history, the Holocaust, and national minorities.
He has completed several research and professional stays abroad.
He participated in an international project focusing on the education of students from the Visegrád Group countries (Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Poland, DIALOG programme).
Within the EURIDICE project, he is a member of the working group developing courses for teachers and the general public in the field of Digital Humanism. He is developing the course Religions in a Digital Environment.
Member of the Department of Economics and Management of Public Administration, Faculty of Public Administration
Her research focuses on regional economics, with particular emphasis on identifying and quantifying the most significant factors affecting regional competitiveness and exploring opportunities for regional development, including the use of marketing tools.
She has participated in several research projects focusing on the evaluation of regional government performance and the spatial and temporal aspects of EU cohesion policy.
She is currently a member of the research team of a national project examining the interests of consumers and traders in the supply of digital content and digital services from legal and economic perspectives.
At the Faculty of Public Administration, she serves as Vice-Dean for Quality of Education.
Within the EURIDICE project, she is a member of the working group developing courses for teachers and the general public in the field of Digital Humanism. She is developing the course Destination Marketing and Management.
Assistant Professor at the Department of Public Policy and Theory of Public Administration
His research focuses on the impact of new forms of digital communication on municipalities and cities, the use of social media by public institutions, and the role of social media in policymaking.
His research also explores the importance of trust, transparency, and openness in public institutions.
Within the EURIDICE project, he is a member of the working group developing courses for teachers and the general public in the field of Digital Humanism. He is developing the course Ethics in the Digital Environment.
