On the afternoon of 6 May 2025, a spectacular student farewell to the semester, BYE BYE FEST 2025, was held in the area near the student dorms at Medická Street, which was attended by about seven hundred students of UPJŠ in Košice.
The opening part belonged to the members of the student radio ŠtuRKo operating at the University, who, in addition to music, prepared fun games for their colleagues – fellow students. Among others, a competition called “bring an object” or timed beer sipping through a straw were hits. At the same time, ŠtuRKo introduced members of UPJŠ management who came to greet the partying students. The participants of BYE BYE FEST were warmly welcomed by Dr. h. c. prof. MUDr. Pavol Jarčuška, PhD., the Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Investment together, and prof. RNDr. Renáta Oriňaková, DrSc., the Vice-Rector for Science, Research and Projects. There was also a raffle full of attractive prizes, which were handed over to the winners by Ing. Ivan Pezlar, DBA, MBA, the Quaestor of UPJŠ. The most valuable of them was a luxury car rental for the whole weekend.
A rich musical program followed, during which the music group Scarflowers performed first, and then the main guest of the festival – singer and composer of the new pop genre Alan Murin – entertained those present for about an hour and received a great ovation. The surprise of his performance was an “explosion” made of coloured paper strips and a light show of flickering colours. Afterwards, DJ duo DJ Semir & Lubosh, whose musical mix made it impossible not to dance, took care of the entertainment.
Alongside the main programme, more activities added to the fun. The students could warm themselves up through sport on the inflatable attractions “bungee runner” and “surf arena”, which were available at the gym. There was also a photo booth with UPJŠ frame to capture the fun poses of the participants taking pictures with the backdrop of a fashion magazine. The attractions, along with catchy music, good beer and food made for a colourful cocktail of fun and experiences that will be remembered for a long time.
Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice prepared BYE BYE FEST 2025 as a symbolic reward for the students for their efforts during this academic year. We are already looking forward to its next edition.
