UPJŠ signs memorandum with the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague

Dr. h. c. prof. Mgr. Slávka Tomaščíková, PhD., the Vice-Rector for International Relations and prof. RNDr. Renáta Oriňaková, DrSc., the Vice-Rector for Science, Research and Projects, welcomed prof. Dr. Ing. Karel Bouzek from the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague (VŠCHT) and RNDr. Magdaléna Strečková, PhD. from the Institute of Materials Research of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) in Košice to UPJŠ on 14 May 2025. After the joint meeting, they signed the Memorandum of Understanding in the Šafárik Lounge. On behalf of UPJŠ, the Memorandum was signed by prof. MVDr. Monika Halánová, PhD., the Vice-Rector for Academic Qualifications and Doctoral Studies, and for the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, by Professor Karel Bouzek. Professor Karel Bouzek serves as the Vice-Dean for Industry and Foreign Relations at the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the University of Chemistry and Technology, and he is also the Head of the Department of Inorganic Technology.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding has strengthened international cooperation between UPJŠ and VŠCHT in the field of education, science, and research. The University of Chemistry and Technology is a Czech public university focusing on teaching and research in chemistry, chemical technology, biochemistry, biotechnology, and materials engineering. The aim of the Memorandum is to establish a long-term partnership that supports mutually beneficial relationship and scientific cooperation with research organisations involved in the Energy Conversion and Storage (ECO&Stor) project. This project focuses on key issues related to the generation, conversion, storage and integration of renewable energy into the power grid.
