Assoc. prof. RNDr. Vladimír Zeleňák, PhD. from the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice received the Scientist of the Year 2018 award

The Center of Scientific and Technical Information of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Academy of Sciences, and the Association of Slovak Science and Technology Societies have announced this year the 22nd annual event of awarding significant Slovak scientists, technologists, and young researchers from all fields of science and technology – Scientist of the Year 2018. Among the awarded for their achievements for the past year was also Assoc. prof. Mgr. Vladimír Zeleňák, PhD, who received the award Scientist of the Year 2018. He received the award during a ceremony, which was held on Monday, 13 May 2019 at 2 pm. in the Mirror Hall of the Primate’s Palace in Bratislava.

He was awarded for his contribution to the introduction and development of a unique issue of organized nanopore materials such as metalloorganic networks and ordered mesoporous silica within Slovakia and their application as sorbents, intelligent drug carriers and magnetic materials.

In addition to the aforementioned category awards were also presented within the categories of Young Researcher, Innovator of the Year, Technologist of the Year and Personality of International Cooperation. The aim of the event is to professionally and socially promote the most important personalities of scientific life, as well as the best results in science and research in Slovakia. The event is held under the auspices of the President of the Slovak Republic – Andrej Kiska and the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic – Martina Lubyová.
