The Scimago Lab company has published a new ranking of research institutions – SIR World Report 2011. The ranking is based on quantitative bibliometric indicators, such as quotations and publications registered in the scientific database Scopus (Elsevier) in 2005-2009 and it covers 3,042 research institutions from 104 countries worldwide. Only the institutions that publish over 100 documents yearly (articles, conference outputs, survey reports, etc.) were included in the ranking.
Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice has been rated the third university in Slovakia (and the 4th research institution in Slovakia) and took up the 98th place in the geographic region of “Eastern Europe“ and the 1,821st place in the world.
