The Competition of Young Oncologists took place in cooperation with the Foundation of Cancer Research on the grounds of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice on Wednesday in March 9, 2016. The aim of the competition was to bring together the young enthusiasts from the field of oncology research and provide them space to present their interest and scientific results in such an important field as oncology.
The Competition had been ceremonially opened by the president of the Foundation of Cancer Research RNDr. Margita Klobušická, CSc., by RNDr. Ján Sedlák, DrSc. (a board member of the Foundation of Cancer Research, the director emeritus and a researcher of the Cancer Research Institute of the Slovak Academy of Science), by the Vice-Rector for Science, Research, and the PhD. Study prof. RNDr. Peter Fedoročko, CSc, who represented the rector of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc., and by the dean of the Faculty of Science doc. RNDr. Gabriel Semanišin, PhD. in the Historical Aula of the Rectorate of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.
The winners were officially announced in the House of Arts at a gala concert on the occasion of the Day of Cancer Research. The awards were presented by the president of the Foundation of Cancer Research Mgr. Margita Klobušická, CSc., by a board member of the Foundation of Cancer Research RNDr. Ján Sedlák, DrSc., by the Vice-Rector for Science, Research, and the PhD. Study prof. RNDr. Peter Fedoročko, CSc, who represented the rector of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc., by the dean of the Faculty of Science doc. RNDr. Gabriel Semanišin, PhD., and by the chairman of the evaluation committee of the Competition of Young Oncologists from the Department of Pharmacology of the Faculty of Medicine of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, prof. MUDr. Ladislav Mirossay, DrSc.
