1minút, 7sekúnd

On June 25-28, 2025, the Department of British and American Studies FF UPJŠ is organizing an international conference entitled Word-Formation Theories VII & Typology and Universals in Word-Formation VI. The conference will be attended by more than 90 participants from 30 countries around the world.
This year marks 20 years since the first edition of the Word-Formation Theories conference, which mapped the state of research in this area in conjunction with the publication Štekauer & Lieber (eds.) 2005, Handbook of Word-Formation (Dordrecht: Springer). The first conference brought together almost the entire world elite in the field of word formation. This trend and the attractiveness of the conference for top world derivatologists have been maintained in subsequent editions of the conference. The central theme this year will be new development trends in word-formation theories, questions of word formation typology, sound symbolism, evaluative morphology as well as diachronic and synchronic aspects of affixation. This year too, the conference will be graced by top experts such as Mark Aronoff and Andrea Sims from the USA, Francesca Masini from Italy, Antonio Fabregas from Norway, Gerhard van Huyssteen from South Africa and dozens of other top experts from all continents of the world. This conference is a unique opportunity for teachers and students to personally meet prominent personalities and listen to their lectures.
