Slovak Scientist of the year 2014: Person of the year within the EU programmes is prof. RNDr. Pavol Miškovský, DrSc.

The presentation ceremony Slovak Scientist of the year 2014, which was held by Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information, Slovak Academy of Sciences and Association of Slovak Scientific and Technological Societies for the 18th time in Bratislava on May 12th  2015. The aim of competition is to regard highly and socially highlight Slovak scientists and technologists of natural and technological fields and research for the contribution of their scientific studies.

Prof. RNDr. Pavol Miškovský, DrSc. head of the Center for Interdisciplinary Biosciences, won the cathegory “Person of the year within EU programmes” for his significant part of the preparation and coordination as a responsible solutionist of the successful project 7. RP EU granted in Slovakia (Fostering excellence in multiscale cell imaging) and also for Slovak participation in EuroBioImaging.

Present at the ceremony were: president of SR Andrej Kiska, assistant secretary of education, sciences, research and sport department Romana Kanovská, director general of Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information prof. Ing. Ján Turňa, CSc. president of SAS prof. RNDr. Pavol Šajgalík, DrSc. and president of Association of Slovak Scientific and Technological Societies prof. Ing. Dušan Petráš, PhD., EUR ING. Evaluation commission was led by vice-president of SAS, RNDr. Eva Majková, DrSc.

Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice was represented on behalf of rector UPJŠ prof. MUDr. Ladislav Mirossay, DrSc. by prof. RNDr. Juraj Černák, CSc., vice-rector for Science and Research and doc. RNDr. Gabriel Semanišin, PhD., dean of Faculty of Science UPJŠ in Košice.
