The award ceremony for the distinguished citizens of Košice took place in the Historical Town Hall of Košice on Saturday in May 7, 2016. Among the recipients were the employees and teams of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice as well.
Košice City Award
- Prof. MUDr. Zoltán Tomori, DrSc. for his lifelong achievements in the field of basic research on the regulation of breathing and for participating in the establishment of sleep medicine in Slovakia and in the world
- the team of the 1st department of anaesthesiology and intensive medicine of the Faculty of Medicine at the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and the Louis Pasteur University Hospital on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of establishing the first hospital ward in the former Czechoslovakia
Košice City Mayor’s Award
- the team of the Department of Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine and of the Košice – Šaca Hospital a.s. on the occasion of their 55th anniversary of establishment, and for their contribution in the development of mini-invasive surgery in Slovakia
Košice City Mayor’s Plaque
- the team of the Department of Neurosurgery of the Faculty of Medicine and the Louis Pasteur University Hospital for their long-term high-quality specialised healthcare in the Eastern Slovak Region
- the research team of the Faculty of Arts of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice under the supervision of prof. Ing. Július Zimmermann, CSc.
