Rector of UPJŠ elected a vice-president of the Slovak Rectors’ Conference Presidium

On Wednesday, 14 May 2025, at the 118th meeting of the Slovak Rectors’ Conference (SRC) in Banská Bystrica, the rectors of universities elected the President and Vice-Presidents of the SRC for the next two-year term of office. Rector of UPJŠ in Košice, prof. MUDr. Daniel Pella, PhD., was elected as the new Vice-President of the SRC 2025+ Presidium. 

The Slovak Rectors’ Conference will continue to be led by doc. Ing. Vladimír Hiadlovský, PhD., the Rector of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica as President in his second term of office starting from 22 August 2025. The Vice-Presidents, Dr. h. c. prof. Ing. Rudolf Kropil, PhD., the Rector of the Technical University of Zvolen (starting 22 August 2025) and Dr. h. c. prof. MUDr. Peter Šimko, CSc., the Rector of the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava (from 20 June 2025), will continue their second term of office. Two new Vice-Presidents were elected, prof. MUDr. Daniel Pella, PhD., the Rector of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice with the term of office beginning on 14 May 2025 and Dr. h. c. doc. Ing. Ľuboš Cibák, PhD. MBA, the Rector of Bratislava University of Economics and Management, whose term of office begins on 25 June 2025. Thus, public, state and private universities will continue to have their representatives in the SRC Presidium. The new Presidium wants to focus its activities on the qualitative development of Slovak higher education within the European Higher Education Area.
