The rector of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice prof. MUDr. Ladislav Mirossay, DrSc. received 4 representatives of the Folk Ensemble Hornád (Martin Bača, Štefan Štec, Dušana Noušková, Ingrid Starcová) on the grounds of the rectorate in July 30, 2015, who with the other members of the ensemble had successfully represented our alma mater on the prestigious university folk ensemble festival “Akedemický Zvolen” in July 7 – 9, 2015. The rector appreciated the development of the ensemble and its great advancement during its long years of existence. Štefan Štec, the author of the winning choreography with the title “Iba obraz” claimed that he really appreciates the prize for the adaptation of two research video recordings from the 1906s that recorded dance without sound. By the inspirationally adapted čardaš from an unknown village in the Zemplín region and the by dances from Pstruša they persuaded the professional jury, the 11 other folk ensembles in the competition, and the audience of the festival that they deserved the victory. They defended their first place from last year, and confirmed that folk art is their love. We cordially congratulate all the members of the ensemble on the achieved success.
