On Thursday, February 5, 2026, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice hosted the second working workshop on the implementation of the new Higher Education Act organized by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic (MŠVVaM SR). Representatives of 18 public, 3 state, and 6 private Slovak higher education institutions discussed the issue in the auditorium of the UPJŠ Faculty of Medicine on Kostlivého Street between 10AM and 1PM. At the beginning of the workshop, Prof. MUDr. Daniel Pella, PhD., Rector of UPJŠ, and Mgr. Róbert Zsembera State Secretary for Higher Education and Academic Research addressed the attendees.

The aim of the meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Education and academic representatives was to discuss the provisions of the new Higher Education Act, which will come into force on September 1, 2026, and its incorporation into the internal regulations of higher education institutions.
