On 25 June 2025, the Department of History of State and Law at the Faculty of Law, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, welcomed associate professor Ibolya Katalin Koncz from Hungary, who delivered a lecture on the topic: “Children – Orphans – Sick: The Crisis of Child Healthcare in Hungary after WWI.”
The lecture focused on analysing the social and health-related impacts of the First World War on the child population in Hungary, especially orphans and sick children, as well as the institutional and political responses of the state to this crisis. It opened space for expert discussion in an interdisciplinary historical-legal context, as well as on topics related to healthcare, social policy, and the historical circumstances of the post-war period. Last but not least, it enriched the professional, historical, and legal knowledge of the department’s members.
The event took place within the framework of the project Audit of the level of internationalisation and implementation of internationalisation projects of higher education institutions and research Institutions, project code: K10-I4-48, Objective 21: Supporting the internationalisation of education at the Faculty of Law, Activity 21.3: Inviting international experts to support educational and research activities.
