The Rector of UPJŠ is pleased by the Approval of the MEDIPARK Project

The Rector of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, prof. MUDr. Ladislav Mirossay, DrSc. is very pleased by the approval of the project Medical University Science Park in Košice (MEDIPARK) the realization of which is planned for the end of June 2015. It concerns the construction of biomedical university science park as a high-quality national and international centre for applied research and the implementation of its results into practice in the field of biomedicine. The project will be implemented by UPJŠ in Košice in cooperation with the Neurobiological Institute of the SAS (Slovak Academy of Sciences), University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice, and Technical University in Košice. The total costs for the realization of the project amount to almost 33 million Euros and UPJŠ in Košice will obtain for the project financial resources in the amount of almost 20 million Euros. The contract for provision of irreclaimable financial grant for the realization of the project was signed last week by the Minister of the Education, Science, Research and Sport, Mr. Dušan Čaplovič and the Vice-Rector of UPJŠ in Košice, prof. RNDr. Juraj Černák, CSc. in the building of the Ministry of Education.

“The preparations for this unique project lasted two years and I am very pleased that we managed to conclude the preparation phase successfully. The project got, so to say, green lighted by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic. On this occasion I want to thank all creative university employees who participated in the preparations for their enthusiasm, and I believe that this spirit and zeal will not leave them neither during the realization of the project itself because there is a loads of work in front of us” remarks prof. MUDr. Ladislav Mirossay, DrSc., according to whom, the creation of the science park will enable us to reach the excellent international level in biomedical sciences and create above standard conditions for the promotion of applied research, and, in partnerships with other research organizations, guarantee the protection for the intellectual property of the applied research results as well as the implementation of the results into practice.
