The prestigious award ceremony for the scientists and researchers for their contribution to science, technology and innovation within the framework of the Week of Science and Technology in Slovakia took place at the Incheba Expo Bratislava on Thursday, November 8, 2018. The employee of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJS, neurologist-  assoc. prof. Matej Škorvánek, M.D., PhD was awarded in the category “Personality of science and technology up to 35 years” for his research in the non-motoric and prodromal manifestations of Parkinson’s disease by the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic- Martina Lubyová.

“The work I do is very entertaining and fulfilling for me. Despite of the skepticism that is often heard about the quality of science in Slovakia, I think that we can do a beautiful science at the world level, as evidenced by many awards during the ceremony.  In addition to the personal enthusiasm, time and energy that a person is willing to give to his work, is necessary to work in an environment that enables the personal development, which has been definitely given to me under the supervision of Professor Gdovinová at the Department of Neurology FM and UNLP, so for what I would like to thank her and FM UPJS very much. A doctor can experience smaller or greater achievements in a successful treatment or a correct diagnosis practically every day, not expecting extraordinary award or appreciation, the feeling of meaningfulness of the good-done work is often quite sufficient. Of course, it is very glad if long-term work does not be unnoticed and brings the outcomes,” said assoc. prof. Matej Škorvánek, M.D., PhD.

    Congratulations!
