The ceremonial inauguration of the rector of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc. took place on Thursday in 15 October 2015 at 11 o’clock. The highest officials of the university and the invited guests listened to the rector’s oath next to the insignia of the university, which referred to its values, mission and traditions: ‘I swear to my honor that I will carry out the duties of the Rector of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice to the best of my knowledge and conscience, and I will put in my best effort to lead our university in the spirit of the universal human principles of ethics, humanism and democracy’. After taking the oath the insignia (the Rector’s Chain and Scepter) of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice were handed to the new rector.
The rector of the university formally awarded the insignia of vice-rectors to the vice-rector for legislation prof. h. c. doc. JUDr. Mária Bujňáková, CSc., to the vice-rector for science, research, and the PhD. Study prof. RNDr. Peter Fedoročko, CSc., to the vice-rector for public relations prof. PhDr. Ján Gbúr, CSc., to the vice-rector for the development and the European agenda prof. MUDr. Pavol Jarčuška, PhD., to the vice-rector for higher education prof. Ing. Mária Mareková, CSc., and to the vice-rector for international relations and mobility doc. Ing. Silvia Ručinská, PhD.
The ceremonial awarding of the deans’ insignia was also part of the inauguration, within which the rector awarded the insignia to the dean of the Faculty of Law doc. JUDr. Gabriela Dobrovičová, CSc., to the dean of the Faculty of Public Administration doc. JUDr. Mária Hencovská, CSc., to the dean of the Faculty of Arts prof. PhDr. Oľga Orosová, CSc., to the dean of the Faculty of Medicine prof. MUDr. Daniel Pella, PhD., and to the dean of the Faculty of Science doc. RNDr. Gabriel Semanišin, PhD.
