The ceremonial opening of the Research Centre of Advanced Materials and Technologies (PROMATECH) took place in Thursday, January 14, 2016, and it was attended by the mayor of Košice MUDr. Richard Raši, PhD., MPH, by the representatives of the Košice region JUDr. Zdenko Trebuľa (president of the Košice self-governing region) and Ing. István Zachariaš, by the president of the Slovak Academy of Sciences prof. RNDr. Pavol Šajgalík, DrSc., and by the head of the PROMATECH research centre prof. RNDr. Ján Dusz, DrSc.

On behalf of the Rector of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc. the event was attended by the Vice-Rector for the Development and the European Agenda prof. MUDr. Pavol Jarčuška, PhD., by the Bursar of the university RNDr. Ing. Michal Tkáč, PhD., and by the spokeswoman of the university Mgr. Mária Hrehová, PhD.

The PROMATECH research centre creates a real platform for the development of cooperation between the academic and industrial spheres in the field applied material research, which can significantly contribute to the improvement of the overall competitiveness of the Slovak industry by supporting the implementation of new materials and technologies into production processes and products.

The main partner of the PROMATECH project is the Slovak Academy of Sciences, while the Institute of Material Research, the Institute of Experimental Physics, the Institute of Geotechnics, and the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, and the Technical University in Košice also cooperated.
