Prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc., the rector of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice received prof. Mark Wiliam Meisel, PhD., and awarded him the Commemorative Medal of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice in June 28, 2016. The prestigious award was granted on the occasion of completion of his “sabbatical year” stay on the grounds of the Faculty of Science of the P. J. Šafárik University in Košice and for his contribution to the development of the university in science and education. The meeting at the Rectorate was held in the presence of doc. RNDr. Gabriel Semanišin, PhD., the dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr.h.c prof. RNDr. Alexander Feher, DrSc., the director of the Institute of Physics of the Faculty of Science, and prof. RNDr. Eva Čellárová, DrSc. from the Institute of Biology and Ecology of the Faculty of Science.
Professor Meisel from the University of Florida in Gainesville is a recognized scientists worldwide, a teacher in the field of physics of condensed systems and a holder of the honorary title Doctor Honoris Causa in Physics, which was issued by the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice in November 12, 2010.
