Researchers‘ Night – „The Heart and the Brain of the Slovak Science“

The scientific stalls of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice was part of the Festival of Science – the European Researchers’ Night again in the atrium of the Optima Shopping Centre in 30 September 2016 from 9:00 until 21:00 o’clock.

  • The Citizen and the Society
    Presenter: Faculty of Public Administration – the stall presented the correct steps that need to be taken in certain situations of life, e.g. in case of a birth of a child, or when we need to change our ID cards.
     
  • Welcome in Cellopolis
    Presenter: Faculty of Science – the presentation concentrated on the cell and on the life within it.
     
  • How do tricksters live?
    Presenter: Faculty of Science – the presentation concentrated on the invertebrate aquatic fauna, and pointed out the interesting aspects of its life.
     
  • How do we see the molecules?
    Presenter: Faculty of Science – the presentation of various methods of molecule inspection, including computer modelling, spectroscopic methods, and simple experiments.
     
  • On the road with binoculars
    Presenter: Faculty of Science – the presentation aimed to awaken young people’s interest in science, and to offer them the opportunity to spend their free time in an interesting way through a simple yet compelling experiment – observation of celestial objects using astronomical telescopes.

    Presenter: Faculty of Science – the stall presented the building blocks of our body in an interesting and engaging way.
     
  • Law and technologies – two different worlds?
    Presenter: Faculty of Law – the stall introduced the science and research that are carried out by the Faculty of Law.
     
  • The secrets of the microworld of plants 
    Presenter: Faculty of Science
    – the stall presented the anatomy and morphology of lower and higher plants.
     
  • The story of humanization
    Presenter: Faculty of Arts – the stall concentrated on the process of human evolution, and on the typical features of hominid species.
     
  • Mathematics in experiments
    Presenter: Faculty of Science –the visitors had a chance to meet with mathematics in an informal way. We presented experiments which are either connected to school mathematics, or which are seemingly not connected to mathematics at all.
     
  • From the atoms to the quarks

  • Experiment, discover and learn
    Presenter: Faculty of Science – demonstration, interactive experiments and observation of selected phenomena, their explanation and their significance for the society.
