The Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice opened its doors to the students, who are interested in university studies again. The event was organised by the university in cooperation with the Education Committee of the Košice Self-governing Region on Friday in October 5, 2018. Compared to the previous years the eighth Open Door Day has brought many interesting events and news.
One of the many interesting things on this event were the information stands of the university workplaces, e.g.: the faculties of the university, the Student Dormitories and Canteens, the University Library, the Botanical Garden, and the university choir Chorus Universitatis Šafarikianae. The students acquired valuable information about the possibilities of mobilities within the framework of the Erasmus+ program, and the study possibilities for the students from Ukraine were also presented. The university did not forget about the teachers, educators and supporters of secondary schools and grammar schools either. They had the possibility to talk to the vice-deans of the individual faculties of the university.
For those who were interested one more novelty was prepared – an interactive exhibition: You make history!. The students of the Department of History of the Faculty of Arts dressed in period costumes and presented to the visitors a professional exhibition, which was enhanced by more than 600 contemporary photographs and by several collectibles including historic vehicles. The main purpose of this accompanying event was to explain the fact that great history, which we are learning in schools, is made by individuals, and each citizen contributes by his/her actions to it, and their decisions determine the direction our society is taking. The interactive exhibition was available to the visitors from 9.00 to 15.30.
