The scientific team of the Fourth Internal Medicine Clinic of the UPJŠ Faculty of Medicine, a member of the EXcellent Team for Atherosclerosis Research (EXTASY) group, has been awarded at the Košice Region Innovation Awards ceremony. The prestigious award of the UPJŠ Rector, professor Daniel Pella PhD., – Košice Best Scientist/Scientific Team – was received by professor Ivan Tkáč, PhD. The award was presented to him by the Questor of UPJŠ Ivan Pezlar during the gala evening of the Košice Region Innovation Centre, which took place on 14 May 2024.
Professor Tkáč was also awarded the Korec Prize for his outstanding scientific and publishing activities by the Presidium of the Slovak Medical Society and the Slovak Diabetological Society on 3 April 2024. The Korec Prize, named after the eminent Slovak biologist, academic and university professor Rudolf Korec, is awarded for outstanding achievements in research, teaching and contribution to the development of scientific and academic life. Its aim is to motivate scientists, researchers, and educators to achieve outstanding results and to recognise their contribution to society and the scientific community.
