UPJŠ in Košice awards an honorable title doctor honoris causa to the world-renowed personality in legal philosophy

At the ceremonial meeting of the Scientific Council of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice at Friday, 9. March, the honourable scientific title doctor honoris causa was awarded to the important personality in the legal life - prof. Dr. Robert Alexy from Christan Albrechts Universität zu Kiel. The University awarded an honourable title Dr. h. c. in its Historic Hall to the most representative current systematic on the field of legal science and to an excellent scientist in presence of various important guests. “In the name of the academic community of our University and in my name as well, I would like to express my personal feeling of happiness for being able to honour such an important person and award the highest degree of academic acknowledgment. I am pleased that the number of the doctor honoris causa title recipients will again be extended”, the rector of the UPJŠ in Košice prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc. stated. Prof. Dr. Robert Alexy has become the 40th holder of the honourable title Dr. h. c. of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.
Prof. Dr. Robert Alexy has also participated in the scientific discussion held on Thursday in the Historic Hall of the University, where he discussed “Philosophy of Law from Radbruch to Alexy” with students and employees of the University. “I consider the awarding of the title doctor honoris causa as an exceptional event. Particularly due to the fact that the name Alexy is not of German, but of Slovak origin. I was able to discover that its origins can be found in Slovakia, specifically in Veľká Lomnica. Therefore it is a great honour to be awarded the title Dr. h. c. ‘at home’,” the holder of the doctor honoris causa title, prof. Dr. Robert Alexy, has stated.
